Argh! As if to make me realise I’ve been leaving this blog unattended with no updates for awhile, I get daily moderation request from Friendster Blog to approve the comments.

None of the comments are genuine readers — all SPAM!!!

Am not liking it at all.  Wonder if Friendster administrators are aware of this or not. I sure hope they are reading this! Hence I am disabling any comments whatsoever for this post!

Watched Pathology with hubby during our 3rd honeymoon end last month, the weekend before my birthday last week.

It’s a freakingly ‘interesting’ sick movie. A group of docs who are trained to save life and currently stationed at the mortuary to conduct post mortem and cutting dead people’s ribcage open using a shear and drilling and all sorts of things brought their profession to another level by competing against each other to commit the ‘perfect murder’ where they virtually made the murders go undetected. Blood, chemicals, clever ways to kill and betrayal.. oh, not to leave out perverted sex.

Watch it if that’s your kinda thing.

Can we switch back to the old Friendster blog?

Last week, I received an email from Friendster Blogs telling me to look forward to the all-new blog interface with added features and all.. so I was not awaiting the changes with bated breath, and I totally forgot about it until I feel like posting an entry and lo and behold.. it’s cool at first with the new features you can play with in the blog setting but once I reviewed the actual blog site, I realised my profile pix is missing, and all the albums on the side bar has been wiped out!

No tutorial or announcement or anything anywhere.. arghh, so not liking this at all.

Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan, Malaysia!

1957, Aug 31, today, Malaya gained independence from British.

Sept 16, 1963, Malaysia was formed when Sabah and Sarawak broke free from British rule and Malaysia was formed by Singapore, Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak.  Singapore later broke free a couple of years later when the Chinese could not come to terms with the special rights and privileges of the Malays.

What does independence mean to me?  Having protected rights as a Sarawakian and not having to queue too long at immigration counter for clearance when I enter Sabah or return to Sarawak.. hehe.

No la.. apart from superficial things like that, I am proud of be Malaysian.  Sure we have flaws and quirky politics, but we are a vastly developing nation and hopefully things will only get better from here.

Happy birthday, Malaysia, let our bigger brother, Malaya win in when to have the official birthday first.

It’s Merdeka anyway.  Merdeka!

Some Random Thoughts

Got a new girl at work who blogs too.  She just joined less than a week ago and befriended the two interns at my workplace and ‘advertised’ her blog online via msn.  But she’s being less than tactful about what she blogs about.

Anyway, my current company has a policy of what you cannot share via personal blogs related to work.  She’s treading on a thin line here.. noticed how I’ve not blogged about work since last year?

I’m touching wood now and keeping my fingers crossed.. my 2007 second home — i.e. the Hospital, has not been visited and I have not slept in a hospital bed for the whole of 2008 and still counting and definitely wanna keep it this way.

Health is still a yo-yo, with minor ailments only.. nothing serious.  IBS in remission, keeping flu and sorethroat at bay.. overall, I’m just OK, I guess.

Can we count clumsiness as a disease?  Cos I keep banging myself against edges of anything and bruise myself.  Hahaha.  Which reminds me my ’season’ for clumsiness is nearly here.  *shudder*

I need a break, and I’m getting one in less than two weeks! Flying back to hometown in so many months.. nearly a year.. n gonna hug my two little girls (my god daughters) since I last saw them when they flew over to see me in March.  Actually dreamt of little Rachel the other day and she’s whispered ‘Mami’ into my ears.  Really miss them lots.

Till the next blog entry, Ben, you’re subconsciously asking for the public global announcement with your comment earlier on!  Anyway, congrats again and may you have many happy years ahead with Alvina.  Hugs.

8th month of ‘08

Random thoughts again.

It’s the 8th month of 2008 and also the 7th Lunar month in the Chinese calendar and today coincides with the Ghost Festival (Chinese’s All Souls’ Day) where the gates of Hell opens to allow the tormented ghosts/souls to come out on parole.  At least that’s a Western way to put it.

Anyway in reply to your comment, Ben, Alvina Lindsay is your fiancee and the person meant in the previous blog entry.  Everyone, for someone who doesn’t care for his privacy anymore, I hereby announce the engagement between Ben James Dawos (check out his blog at www.bendawos.com) and Alvina Lindsay!  Congratulations!

I’ll try to blog more in the coming weeks and hopefully beginning Sept, I will have more time to blog.. I know I will.

OK, better hit the road before the ghosts get into my way.. spooky.

This is just another post.

Just feel like blogging but having too many thoughts running through my mind that I decided to blog without really trying too hard anyway.

Congrats to Ben J.D. on his recent engagement.. finally, after all those years of searching… and to a mutual friend too.
Love comes knocking very near, sometimes they are just right in front of you.. haha.

The past few months have been crazy, celebrated my grandpa’s 1st year anniversary of passing and thereafter my first wedding anniversary in July, and then had back-t0-back events and fell sick quite a number of times, but thank goodness no serious illnesses this year.. been steering clear of hospitals for 2008 and I intend to keep it that way.

How I hope for rain tonight so the weather can be cooler and the sky will be clearer.
Wishful thinking.. but worth praying for anyway.

As I said, there are so many thoughts running thru my head is it a wonder my post is so random? Anyway, gotta go home now.. just installed streamyx after the Maxis Broadband (wild edition modem) failed us.  All the hype and hoo hah in promotion of the Maxis Broadband .. really disappointing in real actual performance.  Gave it back, got a 7 days free trial.. but the deposit can only be returned in cheque form in two long months!  No cash meh?

Anyway, hope streamyx will be more reliable.. but everyone knows how sad the broadband connection is here and how ’stable’ it is.  Ok, end of post.  End of randomness. Ta-ta.

OK, Before I pass on my judgement.. anyway, we in this world like to judge, so I guess since I can’t beat them, I’ll join them in pointing the fingers and judging, I’ll tell you this: I love X-Files series back in school and so naturally, I’m all hyped up for the movie, more so after I won 4 free passes to watch the premiere, of all things, I get to watch the movie before anyone else in the country.. ok, maybe with the hundreds of other people at the same time but you get my point.

So when the movie opens nationwide on July 24, Thursday, my hubby and I, each brought a fren to make up the 4 persons and off we marched into the movie in anticipation.

Gillian Anderson returned as the sultry Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, of course is still the same hunky guy, albeit with a lot of facial hair at the opening scenes.. which he quickly shaved off and showed the good-looking clean-shaven David Duchovny in the flesh (facial flesh, that is).

SPOILERS AHEAD

It started promisingly, with suspense and thriller elements, blood, attacks, struggle and mystery, complete with severed limbs (in this case, carefully amputated arms) .. the two ex-FBI agents are retired (hints of them being forced to retire throughout the move), and Dr Dana Scully is back to a hospital, practising medicine and very attached to a young boy, and another hint of her son, William, in passing remark, hinting at her pregnancy which is assisted by aliens in the earlier storyline for hardcore fans to remember.

Anyway, it slowly but steadily climbed up towards a climax but before you could even be shocked at the climax, the movie took a downward spiral turn for the worse.. the ending is a safe, mediocre one, nothing shocking, no ET, no aliens, nothing supernatural.. I mean, psychic powers with hints of God’s powers in the working is hardly X-Files in all its full glory.. hardly a deserving plot for a ‘come-back movie’ for the popular series back in the 90s. I would not be spending money on this movie.. luckily I got it for free.

Advise is to wait for the DVD to be released. But then again, this is just my opinion, watch at your own risk of disappointment.  Even the music lack the spooky element after the remix or whatever modernisation they did to the theme song.  Bummer.
